Theorizing Intersectionality and Difference

Theorizing Intersectionality and Difference
From the readings and class discussions, I came to figure out the intersectionality. In the 1980s there was a rise of writings by women of color and transnational feminist scholars that redirected the focus on feminist theory. These writings archive vibrant debates about how the intersections of race, nation, colonialism, sexuality, class, and gender shape women’s complex situations. Andrea Smith directly addresses the interrelationship of race, class, and gender. She complicates the conceptualization of race, arguing it in central to the system of white Supremacy with three pillars: slavery, capitalism, genocide. It was a system of domination. Intersectionality is an innovative and emerging and field of study that provides a critical analytic lens to interrogate racial, ethnic, class, physical ability, age, sexuality, and gender disparities and to contest existing ways of looking at these structures of inequality.
In my understanding every human being was created in the image of God and equal. Women and men, black, Asian, white people should have equal right in society an should be treated equality. Racial identification a is an aspect of domination as well as patriarchy culture. People are allowed to be who they are. Women should be treated equally as men in family, politically, socially, economically and in religion. Asian, Asian American Feminist came up to developing a theology that advocate for women. They addressed gender justice issues, spirituality issues, patriarchy issues, and identity issues. Advocating for women does not mean that they will do all men do but means that they have to be respected as who they are. Be recognized as able.
